PRODUCT STRATEGY AND UX DESIGN
Fyma is an AI-powered platform that transforms video data into actionable insights, helping businesses optimize their operations and make informed decisions.
As the Design Lead, I played a key role in shaping the product’s design, user experience, and strategy. My work involved creating intuitive user flows, building a flexible design system, and working closely with the Product Owner to align the product with business goals. We adapted based on user feedback to ensure the product delivered real value while staying easy to use.
BUSINESS & PRODUCT ALIGNMENT
The main challenge was ensuring the product aligned with Fyma’s mission of helping businesses turn video data into meaningful actions. Working closely with the Product Owner, I helped focus the roadmap and features on both driving growth and meeting user needs. We struck a balance between delivering cutting-edge AI solutions and addressing the practical demands of our market. The strategy kept Fyma's business objectives in focus while ensuring the product delivered real value to its users.
UX DESIGN
Our UX design was driven by direct feedback from clients, mostly gathered through customer support. This close interaction allowed us to quickly understand pain points and adapt the product to better serve user needs. By focusing on real-world feedback, I could prioritize features and improvements that had the biggest impact.
I focused on creating a clear and intuitive journey for users, often sketching out ideas and discussing them with the team to quickly iterate on core features. By simplifying complex interactions, I aimed to design a product that felt natural for users to navigate. This agile approach allowed for flexibility and fast decision-making, ensuring we stayed aligned with the project’s goals.
Throughout Fyma's development, there were times when we had to completely change direction based on user feedback. In one early version, users had full control over setting everything up—adding cameras, defining areas to be measured, and retrieving data. But we quickly realized that many users struggled with defining areas accurately and couldn’t make sense of the raw data.
That insight led us to pivot toward a more guided approach, building a new MVP where we took care of the setup. Users were then presented with clear data in a dashboard format, using widgets. This shift simplified the user experience and aimed to make the data more actionable for users. Starting over and redesigning the product presented challenges, but ultimately led to a more user-friendly and streamlined tool. While we couldn’t guarantee complete user understanding, the dashboard approach was designed to better present insights in a clearer, more digestible way.
Our design process was all about flexibility and quick iteration. With early feedback from clients and the team, I constantly refined the product to make sure we were hitting the right marks. Whether through internal discussions or user insights, I adapted designs to better address real-world needs. This iterative approach allowed us to stay agile, improving the product step by step, without getting bogged down by formalities or rigid processes.
DESIGN SYSTEM
To maintain consistency and efficiency across all touchpoints, I developed a scalable design system for Fyma. This system provided a cohesive set of components, styles, and guidelines that allowed for faster iteration and seamless collaboration between design and development. By creating a flexible foundation, we could easily adapt the design to new features and platforms while maintaining a unified look and feel across the product. The design system plays a key role in ensuring Fyma’s brand stayed strong as the product evolved.
OUTCOMES AND IMPACT
Our work on Fyma’s product strategy and UX design led to noticeable improvements in internal efficiency and smoother design iterations. By establishing a clear product direction and a flexible design system, we laid the groundwork for future development. Our collaboration with Nvidia, as showcased in this video, further highlights how Fyma’s AI-driven solutions are making waves in the industry, reinforcing the impact and innovation behind our work.
